I have a friend that whenever she likes a pair of my shoes will exclaim “those make your ass look big!” followed by, “they would look much better on me.” These are those shoes. And they are fabulous!

A stunning, whimsical sandal by Mea Shadow. Is it the cognac color, the bold, art-inspired cuff that wraps the ankle or graphic angle of the demi-wedge heel that makes me love this shoe. Yes, yes and yes! It is a true head turner to check out the “assets.”

While it’s quickly turning into flip-flop nation around the office, I couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate the warm weather than in a pair of open toe sandals. But not just any pair … Reed Krakoff’s sandal from spring 2012. It juxtaposes utility with femininity. With hard architectural lines, it’s contemporary art – a look of sophistication, with unparalleled attention to details. The 4” cut out block heel creates a magical illusion finished with a t-pin hardware closure. This go-to sandal is a masterpiece of design.

Today is International Fluevog Day – so get your Vog’s on! In honor of the special day, I chose to wear my lilac suede Munster’s.

Style meets comfort. Re-issued as part of John Fluevog‘s 40th Anniversary collection, the Munster, first made famous by Lady Miss Kier on the cover of Deee-lite’s debut album and also by the “Queen of Pop” Madonna, these unique suede soles sport a royal 4″ Louis IV heel and specially designed anniversary buckle. These classic shoes have long been a symbol of the ’90s underground music/club scene – stylish, iconic and groovy. In other words, a true Fluevog … party on!

Flower Power! This shoe is definitely buzz-worthy. From the archives, these Isaac Mizrahi striped mules with oversized flower add a perennial pop to the wardrobe.

Owned for more than a decade, they still scream vogue!

Late designer Alexander McQueen‘s signature skull motif definitely has stolen a spot in my shoe closet with these edgy, display-worthy olive suede peep toes from the spring 2012 collection.

The golden metal skull—set with rhinestone eyes, teeth and a Mohawk— is a serious adornment that adds a rebellious kick. Its 5.5″ heel and 1″ double platform make it a 4.5″ height equivalent (although I’m sure my podiatrist would disagree).

Always a rebel … it’s so ghoulishly girly and so dangerously fun.

TGIF! I’m capping off the work week on a high note in Alexander Wangs black and white patent-capped-slingback heels.

This may appear to be a serious high heel at 4.75″, but with the 1″ exposed platform, the pitch is lessened – it’s all comfort and elegant style. With two-tone looks being on the fashion radar this year, this shoe definitely demands attention. Oh, it’s a serious heel … seriously awesome!

Opening Ceremony Polka

Spring has sprung! Nothing says spring to me more than polka dots. This bootie from Opening Ceremony doesn’t just bring a smile to my face, it makes me laugh. A frown can be turned upside down with one glance at these boots.  The whimsical and bold details are what give this boot its kick: ivory calf hair with a black polka-dot print. The solid leather trim and pull-tab loop on the heel collar add a graphic statement while helping to break up the playful polka dots. This bootie is perfect for a spring day.

A pop of color!

Prada rouge suede Mary Jane pumps, from the fall 2011 line, will make you blush. It’s definitely not your classic Mary Jane. The profile of this shoe, sporting oversized buttons and a 4.5” curved heel, is quirky and fun.  A classic – redefined.

Mojito – not just a summertime cocktail!

Julian Hakes – Mojito

I gasped when I saw this ingenious shoe by Julian Hakes online. Named the Mojito, because the original prototype resembles the spiral curl of lime found in a mojito cocktail, this display-worthy masterpiece screamed my name!  But unfortunately my feet were screaming “Ow, ow, ouch!” This award-winning architectural shoe is truly stunning in appearance and design, but the curved upper edge pinched and cut into the top of my toes. Sadly, these shoes remained at the store.

After a long winter, the calendar says “open-toe-shoes,” but the weather in Chicago just doesn’t agree. So for a few more days, it’s still closed-toe season.

From the fall 2012 collection, the Marc Jacobs Rhinestone Buckle Pilgrim shoe.

Hailed as “eye-catching” and “quirky” or panned as “awful,” this is a shoe you either love or hate, but it definitely delivers the BLING to any outfit.  Think Alice in Wonderland meets Cinderella, a combination of sass and fairytale class. It’s artwork for your feet!

From runway to reality, this shoe is truly one of a kind. It definitely adds the “wow” to your shoe wardrobe.

It’s my first Marc Jacobs shoe, but I’m sure it won’t be the last! If you need some bling with a little less flair, check out the Dandy by Kate Spade.
