It’s been said that “imitation is the highest form of flattery”. United Nude first came out with The Iris van Herpen X United Nude “Crystallization” ankle bootie which pushes the limits of shoe design. UN’s website described the shoe “the all-round leather lace detailing creates the effect of visual estrangement while drawing the spectator toward it with admiration.” Couture to say the least, it’s definitely an either you love it or you hate it type of shoe.

Then comes along Jeffrey Campbell, who is the king of imitation. A lower cost alternative to the Iris van Herpen shoe – “Laced”, this shoe rocks its couture style with a 5″ wood heel and 2″ platform. Comfort provides confidence and height if you wear it right. Sadly, this Jeffrey Campbell shoe was retired from my shoe collection today to make room for a new pair. But not to despair, they found a new home. Casey is rocking them. You go girl!

While taking a sneak peek into my shoe closet I realized I was missing a staple shoe every woman must have – a pointy toe, black stiletto pump. Not a suede pump. Not a patent leather pump. Just solid black leather. How could I have overlooked having such a wardrobe basic? To remedy this, the shoe hunt was on. I pondered…if I was going to have that one shoe, what would it be? I looked at various styles in all price ranges. For as many pairs that I tried, I walked out with the one pair. A customer had actually returned a pair to the store out of buyers remorse. Karma! Their loss was my gain because that one pair was my size. The pump that completed the void in my shoe closet was none other than Christian Louboutin “Decolette 554” – a pointed toe pump with a 100MM stiletto heel and famous red sole. It has a stunning profile. The pointed toe is elegant and shows just enough toe cleavage. Can you love a shoe? I certainly do!

Turn back Tuesday….a classic from 2009. Marc by Marc Jacobs cream spectator loafer pump. The original spectator styles might have been basic, Marc Jacobs has put his spin on a classic. Cream and beige patent leather with a bold, chunky and comfortable 3.75″ heel topped off with leather ties. Simply stated, elegant, modern and classy. A turn back that is still current…that’s a good investment.

Boycotting the wellies on a rainy day. Time to show of the pedicure, stand out in the crowd and let my style shine in open toe sling backs. And I just so happen to have the perfect pair in my closet! Stuart Weitzman‘s “Sunbelt”, a kick-ass, towering 3.25″ heeled, open-toe sandal with an elastic sling back.  A must-have leather sandal for the season, adorned with an over-sized silver buckle. Get a pair and rock ’em!
