Sure they resemble the “Highsmith” metallic sandal by A Détacher. Afterall, to copy one’s look is the ultimate form of flattery. And while I do prefer the A Détacher due to the subtleties (white sole and trim on 2″ heel), they simply weren’t available.  So when Anthropologie carried these Latigo vintage t-strap sandals with 1″ block heel on their website at a quarter of the price, it was a fait accompli. The silver leather is soft and the finish is rather muted and antique looking, adding to the vintage charm. They run a little longer in the toe area, even after sizing down 1/2 size, but I really don’t mind as I don’t like toe hangover. This is a versatile, simply designed sandal that is cute and best of all, easy on the wallet. It’s like finding a silver lining in silver shoes!

Shoe designer Finsk by Julia Lundsten is better known for creating architecturally designed shoes that are complex structures, provoking awe and not following trends. Marimekko is well known for their distinctly graphic, bold patterned, bright colored textiles and simple styles. The two designers collaborated in spring 2010 to create a modern footwear collection. The collection was never available in the states, so the challenge was to find a pair. After much persistent sourcing … behold, the SHOE. A pair from the runway show sat overseas in the Marimekko warehouse. This shoe is a true collector’s piece, a one-of-a-kind, unique composition of modern design brilliance. A stunning open toe sandal with 4″ brown leather wrapped heel and 3/4″ platform contrasts the bold, black and cream leather cuff, showcasing Marimekko’s eye-catching, vivid styling, finished with a simple back zipper.

This addition to my shoe closet is solely due to the relentless pursuit by my husband and John at Marimekko. Without you, there would be no SHOE.

Fashion is cyclical. Wait a few years and what’s deemed “out” is sudden back “in”. Pointy toed wedges and flowery prints are suddenly “vogue”. I’ve had this M by Morenatom pair since 2003. Brazilian designed with the trendsetting fashionista in mind, the bold, vibrant colors and butterfly pattern print is current, chic and unique. The ribbon on the back heel adds a quirky and whimsical touch.  These shoes throw a party for your feet!

This unique open toe leather bootie has a front zipper, fold over cuff and wrap around buckle strap. You can inter-change looks by wearing the cuff up, folding it over or varying the strap to showcase the reverse silver color. The 4.75″ Gaga-esque heel is, well, crazy-cool looking. The shoe is ridiculously comfortable with more padding than a runners’ shoe and as entertaining to look at as the guy who sold it. Killer kicks by Tony K on Melrose in LA.

A high gloss patent leather, high heeled wedge in the perfect shade of high voltage red. Stopped in my tracks, it was love at first site! A stylish and chic large bow takes center stage perched above the open-toed shoe. A subtle, gold-tone designer logo is delicately displayed atop the bow. Supported by a 3.75″ patent leather wrapped wedge heel. What more could a girl ask for? Stunningly slick and strikingly simple. It’s polished perfection from Prada.

The “Sone” sandal by Coclico is a modern, edgy, avant-garde sandal/bootie. You’ll feel like you’re walking in flats, not a 4″ heel, thanks to the 1″ wooden platform. Buttery soft leather and a delicate heel strap with Velcro closure keeps you securely grounded. Ultra-comfortable and stylish, wear these and you’re sure to leave a striking impression wherever you roam.
