Two years into the pandemic and its time to focus on practical shoes. Practical can be stylish with fun twist on your not so typical penny loafer. These “Bruno Premi” sporty loafers will elevate your style with its contrasting lug sole. A welcome update for a wardrobe classic.

Pandemic Shoe du jour
Confession – I know we are in a pandemic, but I broke down and bought a pair of sensible shoes – aka flats. (on-line and on sale!) I typically don’t wear flat shoes. But these are ridiculously comfortable, stylish and could possibly be the perfect mule!
The Elyce mule by Frances Valentine. In case you aren’t familiar with Frances Valentine, check out their website. The founder launched the brand back in 2016 with Kate and Andy Spade and its’ styles are timeless. I especially love the coats and handbags.
The mule has a stacked square heel – frankly this really makes the shoe go from ho-hum to haute. Added bonus, there is arch support! And the robin-egg blue insole puts this on a new level of style.
The Tiffany’s of shoes – a true classic.
Home Isolation Shoe du jour
Ho-hum, every day in home isolation seems the same, so I decided to brighten my day with a new pair of shoes! My home isolation belated birthday gift just arrived in the mail.
And
they
are
breathtaking!
From Boden.com, the “Mollie kitten heel”.
Graphic and impactful, these clean white cotton kicks sport bold, black polka-dots and a bright yellow-orange (Tuscan sun) grosgrain bow ribbon. Of course there is also the adorable, 1-3/4″ kitten heel. The sides are cut out and even the interior lining is trimmed in yellow-orange and printed with polka-dots.
Classy, Sassy and Badass!
Home isolation shoe du jour
With COVID-19, the entire city on lock-down and work from home a mandate, my home isolation shoe du jour has become Time slippers. They are super comfortable – because they have yoga mat insoles along with wool lining – so feet are comfy and cozy. This low top leather style has flexible outsoles that really flex with every step and a collapsible heel for easy transformation into a mule. And with stretchable laces – there’s no need to even tie my shoes! They thought of everything!
Best of all, they are donating a percentage of all sales to Covid relief. So you can treat your feet and help those in need while you stay inside!
Shoe du jour – snow boots!
February always seems to bring snowstorms…a great excuse to buy new snow boots! Marc Fisher Ltd. makes these “Idella” Shearling hiking boots. They run a tad bit large, but nothing thicker socks can’t solve. Leather hiking boots with a lug sole give good traction in snow and on city streets. The shearling trim makes these on trend and dresses up even the most distressed denim.
Shoe du jour
Felicia, a street-styled, yet sophisticated, platform wedge sneaker bootie by “Linea Paolo”. The perforated leather is clean and sporty, with a cool sneaker inspired look., 2.5″ wedge, side zip, and contrasting slip resistant sole. Claimed to run true to size, although I felt they ran a little big. Stylish enough to dress up or down, comfortable enough to wear all day.

A shoe sale! It figures, my size was out of stock. But you could “opt in” to be notified if your size became available, so I did. Because that never happens. I didn’t realize “opt in” was an auto purchase. Imagine my surprise when these stylish kicks arrived. To say I’m in love with the double G gold-tone hardware is an understatement – per Gucci’s website its “a contemporary play on the Running G belt buckle from Gucci’s 1970s archives”. The Gucci Victoire GG Patent Pump – a self covered black patent mid-heel, about 2″ (I consider this a flat, not a mid heel), with round toe and blue rosebud printed lining and leather sole – distinctive nod o the Pre-Fall 2018 Gucci collection.
Some reviewers said it ran large.
It does not.
Some said it runs wide.
It does not.
I’m testing these out on carpet and I would love it they stretched a bit, to give a little more wiggle room in the toe box.
I paired these with rolled up jeans, white t and a black blazer and I look like a page out of a fashion magazine. Understated elegance.
Pricey?
Yes, even on sale.
Worth it?
Absolutely!
No regrets!
Shoe du jour
An ad popped up in my facebook feed. Intrigued, I clicked on it.
Stylish slippers for this high heeled gal?
The website claimed “TIME Slippers are designed to help you recharge so you can spend your life doing what really matters.”
Hmmm stylish sneakers.
A few clicks later. I bought the TIME Slippers leather low top slipper. With a 6mm yoga mat insole, wool lining and stretch laces. I chose black leather with white trim. They have a flexible neoprene back heel –for versatility – can be worn down as a slip on mule or fitted to hug your heel. I have made these my official house slippers. Once I get home, I immediately change into these stylish slippers and recharge my feet. I can honestly say they are the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever worn that aren’t high heeled.
Casual, stylish, comfortable and affordable.
This is my first pair. It won’t be my last.
